This is how it looked as received.
Not a positive impression.
...but not a lot of rust, but some corrosion.
Sure looks UGLY though.
This little spring is crutial so don't loose it.
After LOTS of cleaning, still need to work on the "hood orniments".

...And this, is after a bit of Ammonia and rinsing.
My main cleaning agent was Ammonia.
Have a fan blowing from left to right.
Starting to go back together, the center escutchion was
painted, the dials cleaned, and the front edge of the surround is cleaned.
Knobs were pretty sad as well.
You'll see the final result in a couple more pics.
The underside cleaned up beautifully....
But the top was a different story,
too much exposure to a bad environment.
A lot better than when I got it, but still

Well, the knobs look a bit better, the result of about 3 hours of work.
The two dials on the 170 are linked together
with a small cable .
